Kathrine Næss

Kathrine Næss is an architect educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture (2007). She has taught at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) since 2011 and is currently an Associate Professor. She leads the master’s studio Studio Daylight & Structure and the elective course Daylight on Northern Latitudes, where students explore how spatial proportions, structural systems, and material surfaces shape interior daylight conditions at high latitudes

Næss also heads the research group DA/S — Daylight and Structure, aiming to bridge the quantitative and qualitative dimensions of daylight by integrating scientific inquiry with artistic exploration, and architectural research with practice. Her current teaching and research examine how productivity can be redefined in the Nordic–Baltic context, considering daylight and climate as fundamental premises for architecture that fosters health and well-being.
